Chains and roller chains
Chains drive power and motion in a variety of processes. Chains or roller chains can be described as a series of sliding bearings connected by link plates or side strips. Loads are carried by each link in tension through a series of pins and bushes. Lubrication is necessary to prevent metal-to-metal contact between the pins and bushes of the chain and thus its failure.
