Lubricants for rubber and elastomers
Compatibility is a key aspect to consider when selecting a lubricant for rubber and elastomers. If the level of compatibility is not correct, changes in the physical properties of the rubber or elastomer can occur, including swelling or shrinking, changes in hardness or tensile strength, which ultimately prevent it from performing as originally designed.
There are some lubricants that are specifically formulated for rubber and elastomers, however it is often best to test performance given the multitude of different types/grades of rubber and elastomers that exist.
