Chemical resistant greases and oils
Chemical environments often present demanding lubrication requirements. Lubricant additives can sometimes react with the process stream, forming salt byproducts or precipitating solids, which negatively impacts lubrication and causes additional wear and damage to equipment. Specially formulated additive packages in some compressor or mechanical seal lubricants are designed to avoid some of the problems caused by reactive service.
Greases that perform well in chemical environments are fluorosilicone-based greases thickened with fluorinated polymers. These greases:
- Provide excellent resistance to most chemicals, solvents, acids, chlorides and other harsh chemicals
- They are compatible with most seals, gaskets and seals
- They are resistant to washing out by water, fuels, oils and solvents.
- These greases lubricate over a wide temperature range.
We recommend fluorosilicone grease for reactive chemical environments.
