Dielectric Insulating Grease
Silicone grease for electrical insulation and sealing
Polish Product Evil Lubricants
Electrically insulating grease is not damaged even when exposed to high voltage.
Dielectric grease is widely used in high voltage connections such as those associated with gasoline engine ignition, wiring and fittings such as the rubber plug of a plug wire.
It is a silicone-based mixture recommended for use between metal/rubber, rubber/plastic, metal/plastic parts. It is characterized by resistance to oxidation, which translates into the long life of the grease. The grease ingredients allow for effective protection of elements against burnout at temperatures from -55 °C to +200 °C and are chemically resistant to most metals, organic materials and polymers. Additionally, this grease is characterized by good adhesion to surfaces and does not react with substances such as mineral oils or various chemical compounds, including diluted acids and bases. This makes it ideal for protecting elements against corrosion.
In addition to electrical insulation, EVIL dielectric grease is also used as a sealant in cable joints, batteries, rubber and metal parts. In fact, it is not easy to distinguish whether the grease is acting as a lubricant or a sealant, because it effectively fulfills both functions. Its ability to work with rubber and its electrical and sealing properties make it an ideal choice for the regeneration and protection of high-voltage cables in various industries, including cars and devices using such cables. The grease creates a thin insulating layer on the cables that is resistant to water and moisture, while not attracting dust and dirt that can be harmful to the insulation. EVIL dielectric grease protects against corrosion, tarnishing and conduction of electric sparks, ensuring safe operation in humid conditions.
This grease has a consistency typical of greases with an NLGI index of 2. Before using it, the surface should be thoroughly cleaned of dirt, grease or silicone. Solvents, detergents or potassium hydroxide solution can be used for cleaning to remove silicone. The grease can then be applied manually, with a spatula, cloth, brush or automatically. The grease should not be used on surfaces that are to be painted.
The name dielectric itself means that the grease is electrically insulated and cannot be destroyed even when high voltage is applied. Dielectric grease should not be confused with arc-resistant grease, which must be made of compounds that do not undergo transformation at very high temperatures. The silicone-based dielectric grease eLube does not meet this requirement because silicone can transform into silicon carbon during phenomena occurring in an electric arc, which in turn can cause premature failure of the contacts.
The most popular applications of dielectric grease are for high voltage connections associated with petrol engine spark plugs, cables and fittings, e.g. rubber boot of a plug cable.
It is a silicone-based mixture recommended for metal/rubber, rubber/plastic, metal/plastic applications and is characterized by resistance to oxidation, which ensures a long service life for the grease. The filler and other ingredients used in the grease enable effective operation and protection of elements against punctures in the temperature range from - 55 ° C to + 200 ° C and ensure chemical inertness to most metals and organic materials and polymers. If we add to this high adhesion properties to the surface and lack of reaction with materials such as: mineral oils, a number of chemical compounds, including diluted acids, alkalis and aqueous solutions and protection of metal parts against corrosion, we will get a product with a wide range of applications. The strong adhesion that characterizes the eLube dielectric grease means that the grease is used not only to protect elements against punctures but also as a sealant in cable joints, batteries, rubber and metal elements. It is impossible to clearly determine whether the grease fulfills its function as a lubricant or as a sealing compound, it can only be stated with full certainty that it fulfills both functions in a professional manner. Compatibility with rubbers and electrical and sealing properties make the grease seem ideal for the regeneration and protection of high-voltage cables in industry and cars and devices using such cables. The lubricant coating that is formed on the cables, creating an insulating seal resistant to water and moisture, can be very thin and has the ability not to attract dust and dirt, which are the main enemies of insulation. The eLUBE dielectric grease used for electrical connections protects against corrosion, tarnishing and protects against electric spark jump and damage caused by electric breakdown not only of high-voltage cables but also insulators and switchboards operating in a humid atmosphere.
The method of applying the grease is typical for greases with a consistency of NLGI 2. Before greasing, clean the surface from dirty and greasy or silicone-coated elements. Use a solvent, detergents or potassium hydroxide solution to clean to get rid of silicone. Wipe the entire surface thoroughly and then apply the grease manually, with a spatula, cloth by brushing or rubbing or automatically. Do not use the product on surfaces that are to be painted.
