Greases for rolling bearings

For rolling bearings to operate reliably, they must be properly lubricated to prevent direct metal contact between the rolling elements, raceways, and cages. A wide range of greases and oils are available for lubricating rolling bearings, as well as solid lubricants for extreme operating conditions.

The choice of lubricant depends primarily on the operating conditions, i.e. temperature and speed range, the load it must carry and the influence of the environment surrounding the bearing.

In addition to these considerations when selecting a lubricant, the frequency of relubrication must also be taken into account to achieve maximum bearing reliability.

Recommended greases for rolling bearings are:

• Molykote 33 medium - bearing grease for extremely low temperatures, e.g. fans in freezers
• Molykote 7348 - high temperature bearing grease 250 'C, used in edge banding machines.
• Molykote Multilub - universal lithium grease
• Molykote 3451 - chemically resistant bearing grease for aggressive environments
• Molykote BG-20 - high-speed grease, including for spindles
